N uking user blogs would risk losing a portion of main blog t raffic ... I mean, the news this morning was so discouraging, that I was considering leaving Kinja altogether, despite what they said about main site comments being unaffected.

Seems to be the CEO is all bent out of shape about these “Herb” posts. Every time he has the admins take one down, another pops up. I think it might have been as recently as last week when the CEO realized that everyone had their own blog. He seems determined to kill all methods for this Herb story to be shared.

Killing all personal blogs was that method.

I think someone sat him aside, reminded him of the value of the Kinja user, and he backed off.

I doubt they have discussed a pricing plan before now. This is damage control, but for Herb’s* ego.

They’re probably discussing pricing, ads on personal blogs (and oppo) vs what they could stand to lose if they killed all the blogs.

Herb’s feelings are hurt.

* I think his name is Jim, but I’m not sure.
